ABOUT

"It was a summer I would never, ever forget. It was the summer everything began. It was the summer I turned pretty. Because for the first time, I felt it."

~ Belly measures her life in summers. Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer, a place away from the beach house, away from Susannah, and most importantly, away from Jeremiah and Conrad. They are the boys that Belly has known since her very first summer—they have been her brother figures, her crushes, and everything in between.
But one summer, one terrible and wonderful summer, the more everything changes, the more it all ends up just the way it should have been all along.

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a coming-of-age story about love, friendship, and growing up.

THOUGHTS

This book will forever be one of my favorite books. It was the first book that I read that got me into reading. Most people think the book is over-hyped and it's just a story about a classic triangle drama where the girl meets the boy, but I think it's so much more than that. Okay I get that it is a cliche and normally I wouldn't hype that kind of book up, but it's something about this book that makes it more than that. It has a deeper meaning to it and you will feel both happy, excited, sad and angry while reading this book.
The book takes place in present tense but it has a few look backs that will make you get to know the characters better and capture the nostalgic feeling of childhood summers. The way Jenny Han writes makes you hooked and you don't want to put the book down because then the magic will disappear. How she captures that warm summery and nostalgic feeling will forever amaze me whenever I re-read it.

RECOMMENDATION

If you don't like romantic books this isn't for you, but if you do, this is a great book! The book belongs in a trilogy where everyone is about the next coming summers for Belly.
It's a great starter book for those of you who don't read so much but want to start! The language is simple and it's easy to read. Perfect book to read next summer, or now If you miss summer and wants to feel the summer vibe again.

I love Jenny Han as a writer and I really advise you to check out her best selling book "To All The Boys I've Loved Before" or the other books in this trilogy, if you liked this book!

So, to sum it up! A really amazing book! Strongly recommend! 5/5 stars!!
